Bulldog Sports Updates:
FIELD HOCKEY: The Lady Bulldogs were once again crowned South Coast Conference champions, finishing 12-0-2 in the SCC and 13-1-4 overall. They are the #4 seed in the MIAA South Division 2 tournament. On November 5th, ORR defeated #13 Cohasset High School 1-0 in the 1st round of the tournament. Their next tournament game will be a quarter final match against either Martha's Vineyard HS or Nantucket HS on Sunday, November 8th at ORR. Good luck Field Hockey!
GOLF: The Golf team won the South Coast Conference this year in convincing fashion, finishing with a perfect 16-0-0 record. They placed 3rd in the MIAA South Division 3 Sectional (Cape Cod) Tournament and took 5th place in the Division 3 State Tournament on November 2nd. Congrats to Golf on a very successful year!
FOOTBALL: After starting their 2009 season 4-1, ORR hit a rough patch and dropped the next 3 games. They hope to return to their winning ways when they take on the Greater New Bedford Voc-Tech Bears on November 6th in an away game. The Football team next heads to Dighton-Rehoboth on November 13th and then returns home for the big Thanksgiving Day game against the Apponequet Lakers.
GIRLS SOCCER: Girls Soccer finished their successful 2009 regular season on November 4th with a 2-0 win over Fairhaven, finishing with a 15-3-2 record (13-1-2 in the SCC) and earning the #4 seed in the MIAA South Division 2 tourney. They play their 1st round tournament game at 4:00 on Saturday at ORR against #13 Medfield High School. Good luck to Girls Soccer!
BOYS SOCCER: Boys Soccer wrapped up their season on November 4th with a 3-0 win over Fairhaven. Their final record was 6-7-5, just a single point shy of qualifying for the state tournament. Boys Soccer played tough all season, with their defense posting 5 shutouts and giving up more than 2 goals only twice all year. Five of their 7 losses were by a single goal. Good job Bulldogs!
VOLLEYBALL: Volleyball qualified for the MIAA tournament with an 8-8 SCC record. The #12 seeded Lady Bulldogs take on #5 Cardinal Spellman HS in the 1st round on November 6th. Go get 'em, girls!
GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY: Girls XC had another great season. They are 6-1 in dual meets and recently took 2nd place in the South Coast Conference Cross Country Championships on October 31st.
BOYS CROSS COUNTRY: The ORR Boys XC team also had great success this year, finishing 5-2 and earning a 3rd place finish at the South Coast Conference Cross Country Championships. Upcoming meets for Girls & Boys XC: the Division meet on 11/14, All States on the 21st, and Nike Cross Country North East Regional championships on the 28th in New York. Good luck ORR harriers!
CHEERING: Under the guidance of first year head coach Lynn Monger, the ORR Cheering squad was rejuvenated. The squad now boasts 18 members and recently competed in the SCC Fall Cheering Competition held at Greater New Bedford Voc-Tech.
